In a relaxed Sunday, we visited Julio’s parents. Wanting to make something sweet for tea I looked for the macarons recipe on Internet. I found several recipes but all similar. I chose the yummiest one and I did my best shot. I must admit that they did not become like the photo on the site where I got the recipe but I was quite satisfied with this first attempt . I think the key is to wait the necessary time to allow them dry before placing the pan in the oven and the cooking temperature. I guess this was the first of several attempts. I’ll tell my experiences to find the perfect recipe but, meanwhile, it is worth trying.
Ingredients:
- 200g icing sugar
- 100g ground almonds
- 3 egg whites
- 40g caster sugar
- 1 teaspoon of odor
- dye

In a bowl, mix the icing sugar with the ground almonds.

Beat egg whites until stiff. Add the caster sugar and continue beating. Add the chosen dye and aroma.

In my case, color pink + strawberry flavor.

Mix the egg whites with the sugar and ground almonds.

Place the mixture into a piping bag and do circles over a greased baking sheet (the next time I will use a template, as they tend to spread and flatten).
Let them dry at least two hours!! (key step!!).
Bake for 15 to 20 minutes at 170 ° C (note: they lose color). The end point is when you can take off easily from the pan.
Allow to cool.
For the filling I prepared a simple peanut butter:
Ingredients:
- 150g of butter
- 150g icing sugar
- 3 tablespoons or Nutella Bon Bon or (to make a hazelnut cream)
Mix the icing sugar with the butter to make a soft cream. Add the tablespoons of Nutella or Bon o Bon and beat until mixture is smooth and creamy. Place the mixture into a piping bag and fill the macarons! mmm … yummy!

Yummy, thanks!

I am not a particular fan of macarons, but they look like a lovely gift. I was just confused by your recipe… you called it Peanut Butter but you made more of a hazelnut butter, right? What is bon o bon? And what sort of a template would you use?
